Depends on what you define as "sane", I suppose, and I'm not poor now, but I was both poor and libertarian 12 years ago, as in poor enough to literally beat the sofa for change to get diapers for the kid.

By the political compass, I'm a moderate libertarian - that is, I favour an NHS and state provided education, aswell as charity providing for foreign aid in its entirity. Relying on charity for all of soceity's ills, poverty and such, is (in contrast with Friedman's views)unrealistic. People simply aren't that generous.
