I've just come across ComicResearch.org. Looks to have many references that could be useful to you. Understanding Comics by Scott McCloud may also be of some help for understanding the art of comics in general. I would also strongly recommend checking out your local comic shop. Hopefully you have a decent one nearby. Any good one will have knowledgeable staff to help you out. Most importantly, find something that YOU enjoy!

I had never seen Firefly. I heard about and watched the free preview of Serenity online. That was good enough to convince me to go watch the movie and support that marketing plan. I enjoyed the movie and even purchased the Firefly DVD boxed set later. Without that free preview online those sales would have been lost.

Submission + - Polygraph expert caught in own lie

Vainglorious Coward writes: Polygraph "expert" Bruce Burgess who has worked with several trashTV shows has received a suspended sentence for lying to police about a traffic offense. Burgess, whose website promises "testing your honesty in the only way possible" pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice after lying about being the driver recorded by a speed camera. It appears that good old-fashioned coppering is what broke the case, rather than any technological chicanery, with the police officer commenting "my advice is — put your hands up at the first opportunity"

DesertNomad writes: Attorney Mitchell Lazarus over at CommLawBlog gives a good overview of a new radar technology and the challenges of getting regulatory approval, which seemingly can be just as difficult as developing the technology itself.
