What the OP is really asking for is to switch from using Windows as his kernel+/desktop to using Linux but still be able to use the same kinds of apps that they are comfortable with. This is not a criminal offense; CLI is not for everyone. Vi (pick any fork/family) is nothing like the experience of using notepad++. Nor should it be!
But if your gut response is "learn VI or Emacs" what you are really saying is "stay on Windows, n00b". At some point in the past that would have been the right solution for "n00bs", and many of the rest of us. Sadly Microsoft has been hell bent on fucking Windows up so bad. The Linux Desktop* is actually far nicer than what MS ships; apparently what's keeping it from being the year of Linux on the desktop isn't the desktop but the apps, now.
* yes there are tons of options, so there isn't just one, but in fact many choices that are nicer than Win11's awful design + execution.
