The Declaration of Independence is not a governing document for the US. The Constitution, on the other hand, says that slavery is an allowable punishment for those convicted of a crime. The Declaration of Independence is a document expressing the thoughts and opinions of people who were ready to fight an oppressive government. The Constitution is what was they wrote once they were the ones in power.

Technically it says that it costs the Royal Mail tens of millions of pounds a year - not that there are tens of millions of pounds worth of fraudulent stamps sold. If there is £100,000 of washed stamps and the Royal Mail spends £10,000,000 + investigating it, then it costs them tens of millions. With that said, one couple got up to about 400k themselves. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/ne...

One significant reason gated communities exist is because it can be easier and cheaper for the builder. In a gated community, everything inside the gates is private property. That includes the streets, sewers, lamp posts, etc. The city/county doesn't have to pay for or maintain any of that infrastructure. That means developers have to pay less in impact fees and not have to deal with the municipality as much for building the streets/sewers/etc. Of course, this is highly dependent on how things are run in a particular area. But it is often the case.

I believe you misunderstood the article. When it said âoeShould Universities De-Prioritize English Departments for Engineering?â it was not referring to âoeEnglish departments in engineeringâ (as you said). It had nothing to do with teaching English to engineers. The use of the word âoeforâ did not not imply that it was an English department for engineers. It was using it in the sense of an English department âoeinstead ofâ or âoein place ofâ engineering. It was asking the question, should English departments be cut / de-prioritized / receive less funding in favor of putting more money towards engineering.

You are correct. An autopilot system that works correctly 99% of the time is going to be almost impossible to use. For me, having to sit and pay attention in a car that is driving itself would be an almost impossible task. My mind would wander or I would just fall asleep. I would absolutely love to have a car that drove itself - but not one that almost drives itself.

Actually the writers seem to know classic (well TNG) Trek quite well. They are continuing a thread that traced through several seasons of TNG.

Season 2, Episode 9 was where Maddox tried to argue Data was the property of Starfleet and was defended as being a sentient being.

Season 3, Episode 16 was were Data created Lal. He made the point that as a "living" thing he had the desire, right and duty to procreate. But his experiment failed.

Season 4, Episode 11 shows Data in contact with Maddox, assisting him with his work on androids.

During season 6 is where Data painted the "daughter" painting referenced in Picard.

Sometime after that - perhaps quite a while after that - Maddox creates an android, basing her appearance on Data's painting.

This is a continuation of a thread about Data's desire to be a living being and it weaves in with TNG storylines fantastically.
