Journal tomhudson's Journal: Have you ordered your free Ubuntu CDs yet? 28
A lot of people are more impressed with (and more likely to try) a CD that looks "real", as opposed to an ISO you burned yourself from a download. You can order the latest version of Ubuntu on CD for free at shipit.com. The default order is 5 CDs, but you can choose 10, including x64. You can also order Kubuntu and Edubuntu CDs. If you can't wait, the torrents are here for cds, dvds, live/install cds, and source.
I've ordered 10, and 8 of them are already accounted for

Its just that a lot of people are more likely to be influenced by a cardboard sleeve and a printed cd, and to stick out the "learning curve". Stupid-seeming to those of us who are more experienced, but you've got to see it from a n00b's point of view - its not "just something you downloaded from teh intarweb", its "legit software."
