According to Wikipedia, the HEVC H.265 standard was published in 2013.
Patents only last for 20yrs so I believe HEVC will be royalty free in 2034.
And obviously all other similar codecs (AV1) will be safe in 2034.

One idea to reduce costs is use BitTorrent for distribution of the packages. Web site hosts only a torrent file. Everyone has to download via the torrent file. If nobody is seeding.... well then bad luck. If somebody wants a URL for the package manager, they will be required to download from torrent and set up their own local mirror.

Maybe I am OCD, but header size not a power of 2 is bad design. I believe they should have made IPv6 addresses 96bits, not 128bits. Then the IPv6 header will be 32 bytes, more efficient and naturally aligned. IPv6 is a failure due to bad design IMHO.

Microsoft is EOLing Windows10 in October. That means no more changes to the OS; it is a static target. Wine should be aiming for 100% compatibility with Windows10.

"Secure" Boot's primary purpose is to lock down computers and only let software approved by Microsoft run. It's not here to help the computer's owner.

As Windows10 will go out of support in 2025, it will become a fixed target with no new features.
Then it should be possible to eventually get 100% compatibility.

I'm ok with 25Mbps download speed. I do notice uploads are slow, so I think 8Mbps up should be the mandatory minimum.
