I don't know why, but I've removed the RAM from every old computer that I've sent to recycling (after wiping the disks, of course).
I have boxes of DDR3 and DDR4 RAM. I think I can re-use the DDR4 stuff in some relatively modern stuff... don't know about DDR3...it might be too slow
