Submission + - Larry Ellison's Yacht Name Spelled "I'm a Nazi" When Reversed (yahoo.com)
thesjaakspoiler writes: As noted in a recent Vulture profile, attention to detail does not appear to be one of Larry Ellison’s defining strengths. Ellison reportedly purchased a massive 191-foot yacht and named it Izanami, after a Shinto deity from Japanese mythology.
Izanami is the female creator goddess, associated with both creation and death. In later myths, after being abandoned in the Shinto underworld by her partner Izanagi, she vows to kill 1,000 people each day.
Ellison may have felt a certain resonance with that mythology while creating roughly $100 billion in value in 19 hours—while simultaneously laying off 3,000 workers.
The name, however, did not last. Ellison was eventually informed that when reversed, “Izanami” spells something rather more awkward: “I’m a Nazi.”
