Pray tell why the fuck there were four fucking cop cars outside my apartment the other day while they picked something up off the side of the road? Why were there four fucking patrols in the immediate area with nothing better to do than stand around on the street shooting the shit?

And here's another thing: if there are three fucking patrols available to do nothing but pull over motherfuckers at rush hour on a single quarter-fucking mile stretch of highway then....

Oh, I'm sorry, they were making "examples".

That's right, the fuckers were making "examples" of speeders on a road that has seen two recent fatalities.... because some stupid shits ran red lights.

I'm sick and tired of having to keep my eye out for some revenue enforcement fucker hiding on a hill on a 2-lane highway when I'm the only motherfucker for a 1/4 mile in each direction. If I'm the only fucker on the 55 road in broad daylight with a clear view in all directions, and I'm doing 65, FUCK OFF AND GO DO SOMETHING WORTHWHILE.

I'm going to run for public office on a platform of getting lenient on crime just because every other motherfucker for the last fifty years has bitched that his predecessor didn't get tough enough on crime. I'm going to lay off 90% of the cops, legalize every street drug on the planet, and encourage 80 year olds to buy import prescriptions from Khazakistan.

I got pulled over this morning

40 in a 25, written warning. The last three times I've been pulled over has been on the same road. Some idiot has set the speed limit to 25 on a straight road with no houses, my car can't go that slow. It's physically impossible. Luckily the cops only ticket you if you go over 50 there.

The problem is, the things that really need enforcement-- HOV lane violations just because it pisses me off when people drive in them alone, truly reckless driving, failure to get the hell out of the fast lane when someone comes up behind you (which is a law in Virginia, regardless of speed)-- require cops to actually patrol instead of parking behind a bush and sipping coffee for their entire shift.

What really aggravates me about the speed limits is that they're totally non-contextual. Most cars for the last 20 years have been built capable of safely driving at 75 on a clear road. We have the technology to build signs that can be adjusted for road conditions so if it's rainy and foggy, you adjust it down to 45. If it's icy or snowy, you set it to 25. If there's heavy traffic ahead, you set it down and warn people about sudden stops.

The problem there is, the people in charge see "doing the job" as earning revenue. Traffic enforcement has nothing to do with safety, it's all about earning money. How do we change that? I guess we need to start finding local politicians who are willing to try.

When I win the lottery I'm going to get a hellicopter and hang one of those huge junkyard magnets from it, then I'm gonna go fishing for slowpokes in the left lane.

And it should be a crime to drive a car with two or more people in it in the regular lanes, with the penalties the same as for driving a single occupant vehicle in the carpool lanes. Mobilize the national guard, the reserves, and the army. Get a soldier on every street corner with his assault rifle and full combat gear. Immediate arrest for the slightest crime like Jay Walking or Littering. Censor all reading material, ban all tv shows not from the 50's, strict dress codes, restrict access to all communications (which is monitored and recorded)...
