Submission + - One step closer for Spaceport America

space_hippy writes: Unofficially, The Spaceport America will get help from the residence from Dona Ana county in New Mexico.
From the BBC article:

Residents in the US state of New Mexico have approved a new tax to build the nation's first commercial spaceport.
From the Las Cruces Sun News paper article:

The one-quarter of 1 percent increase in gross receipts tax will take effect Jan. 1. Proceeds from the tax will be used to help pay for construction of Spaceport America planned for a remote site in southern Sierra County.
The approval of the additional sales tax happened by only a slim margin. Time will tell if this is a step towards the future for the residence of New Mexico or a political pipedream.
