Journal smooth wombat's Journal: To quote Keanu Reeves, "Whoa" 4

No doubt you three loyal readers have heard about the new 108" LCD television from Sharp. At a mere $11,000, anyone and everyone will be running out to grab one once they hit the market. Granted, that price does not include the cost of remodeling your front door to allow entry to your home but then, for $11,000, what did you expect?

CNN has a write-up about the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) along with a still picture on the television behemoth. Note the size of the person just to the left of the screen. They are not standing in the background or off in the distance.

There is also a link in the story to a video showing sights and sounds from CES. Is it just me, or does the female guitar player at the Yamaha stand look completely bored?

Sadly, only two images of booth babes are shown in the video and the television itself shows up 2/3 of the way through and only from a ridiculous (yes, that is the correct spelling) low angle from the side so you can't get a good look at the screen quality or even how big it is. Whatup wid dat?

To get a better comparison of how large this new tv is, check out this link.

  • I've always thought it would be cool to have a home theatre in the basement. Sort of an extension of the mancave ideal. So you have popcorn, Thomas Kemper Rootbeer on tap, various other thigns, and a big screen TV for watching movies or all night frag-fests...

I had no idea I needed a basement that big!

    • Have you tried Birch Beer? That stuff is fantastic. Also, if used as a monitor, I'm curious the maximum resolution and how many graphics cards it would take to support it.

      • Birch Beer rocks! I'm going to try and make some homemade soda's come the Spring, and Birch beer is pretty high up on the list.
  • ...with rich Star Trek geeks in mind. After all, who wouldn't want a replica of the Enterprise's main view screen on one wall?

I don't know. It seems... excessive. I mean, if I want movie-sized picture, I could get a projection TV and just paint one wall of my house white. And can you imagine the horror of letting your average delivery guys handle this thing?
