I am well into my fifties and have never once relied on AM radio for information in an emergency. That includes two separate times that we had widepread flooding due to hurricanes and were without power for close to 2 weeks, all kinds of noreasters, blizzards, and of course the terrorist attacks. What hypothetical emergency are you considering where having a permanently installed AM radio in a car would make any difference in your life? And maybe of you are that much of a nervous wreck, you can carry a portable battery powered AM radio so that the rest of us do not have to financially subsidize your paranoia?

The bill requires an AM radio receiver be installed but does not specify any compliance standard. This should cost nearly nothing to implement. Just sling some code at the SDR, and whatever terribly short range staticky mess you capture can be presented to the consumer for compliance purposes. Sorry our AM receiver was only has a thousand yard range, but it meets the federal requirement.

The garbage men donâ(TM)t need to slow down to inspect the trash. There are cameras that record the dumping of the trash can into the truck, they use some (AI?) software to identify infractions, then send you an additional bill along with a link to a video recording of your noncompliant trash sorting. Don't go up the ladder, go down. I extensively use 20% concentrated vinegar to control weeds and brush on my ~1 acre property. It's just as fast acting and effective as Roundup, but instead of causing cancer, it smells like salad dressing. Unlike Glyphosate it is not a selective herbicde and kills broadleaf plants and grasses alike. So it's not as useful for farmers spraying Roundup resistant soybean crops. But for control of backyard weeds, it's much preferred to giving your family and pets cancer.
