Not that I praise robots replacing human jobs. But I've seen countless times luggage handling employees literally abuse luggage. I even saw a dude slamming the luggage, then followed with a kick for good measure. Dunno if he just had a bad day or he indeed hated his job.

A federal judge agreed that the search violated Chatrie's rights, but allowed the evidence to be used because the officer who applied for the warrant reasonably believed he was acting properly

This is a pathetic interpretation of the Constitution. What the officer believes is irrelevant! It's what he knows that count. Don't get me wrong guys, they got the right guy and he confessed. He earned his sentence. But back to the truth; at the time of filing the application for the surveillance, the cop DID NOT know anything and he didn't have the authority NOR the qualification to "believe" that he was acting properly, when it comes to constitutional rights. The judge should issue the ruling based on facts and laws, not on the cop's belief that he was right.

EV is definitely something I want, but they ain't the same budget. I can buy a Camry/Sienna or Accord/Odyssey for less than a Model3/Y or Lyriq/EscaladeIQ. I absolutely love the convenience of waking up to a "full tank" everyday. When Tesla began selling Model-S I told myself the price will be normalized in 5 years. But today it's still not and I think that's because Tesla is not facing fierceful enough competition.

A few companies out there like Rivian, Lucid who make pure EV but they are similarly priced, even more expensive. Long time players like Ford, GM, Hyundai are not making enough vehicles to be competitive. Ford/GM pulled the plug on their production multiple times for various reasons. Without enough competition, there's no reason for Tesla/Rivian/Lucid to lower their price further. So now more than a decade since Tesla's first car, we're still looking at a good difference in price. Average consumers cannot afford EV.... yet.

I'm looking forward to a completely different future though. With Cybercab/robotaxi as a possible method of transportation, the future could render car ownership completely irrelevant. I envision those companies offer a fixed monthly service contract (less than what it costs to own a car) for unlimited (or max number of) rides up to certain reasonable range. And if the number of vehicles in service is adequate, any request will get a ride within few mins, people would just ditch their cars and use robotaxi only. I know I would. Not only that, I'll be part of small business network that offers the service.

You are in fact right that nobody will buy it with that much difference... problem is the most nearby difference of $0.50/gallon is roughly 30mins drive. Nobody drives that far only to fill up. To get to a $1 difference it's probably an hour. I would expect SF to be the most expensive but their peak was $8. For me I didn't really care that much because for over a decade working remote, I didn't drive much at all. My 10 year old car just crossed 70K mileage recently so filling up the tank takes a long time to drain.

Oh no... there wasn't much extreme difference where I am. I live within commute distance to the silicon valley. The peak did in fact have several attributing factors like you said. The war definitely had a lot to do with it. But also a long list of oil refineries no longer exist in CA causing a balance shift in supply/demand. Back in the 70s there were about 50 refineries, slowly came down to 13 in 2022. I do believe by the end of this year it will be 11. State laws also mandated lower phosphorous in fuel, making it a lot harder to get. Gas stations can't just buy from much cheaper TX and sell in CA. They have to get it from only a short list of providers who actually make those blends. Back in Oct 2022, the state average peaked around $6.50 but my town was $9. Lucky me I work remote and that year I scored a total of 1,200 miles of grocery/school runs.

Not everything. Just the things that are contrary to common decency. And the things that are beneath the office of the president. And the things that are illegal. And the things that embarrass us on the world stage. And the things that are self-serving. And the things that are not helping our citizens. So no, not necessarily everything, just most of it.

Let me give you examples of each off those things:

Beneath the office of the president: Biden and WH was directly involved in the Mar-a-Lago raid
Illegal: Obama ordered the CIA to discard their report on the Russian hoax and rewrite a new assessment that makes it true
Embarrassment: US media make up stories and hide behind "anonymous source", Biden shakes hand with his own shadow, falls down while walking up AF1 3 times in a row, vast majority of his executive orders were signed by an autopen, of which he has no knowledge
Self-serving: Biden family takes money from foreign companies and praise those countries
Things that are not helping our citizens: grants for LGBT programs in countries where LGBT is illegal

I know exactly what you're talking about. You, on the other hand, keep saying those things but never offer any examples or reasoning. You just repeat what your TV told you to. Refer to the "embarrassment" part of your in my response. You may not know anything I just said because you only get news from one source and that source is also in the "embarrassment" section I just mentioned.
