This is what happens when a country is established, almost every minority vice becomes banned and scorned. But what is the audience for data havens? I was not thinking of the porn industry or gambling, they can find other means of doing it? The things I find interesting are that they dont have any tax (though there is a coporate registration and yearly fee, but no tax as such). And they are much more friendly to venture like this than any other country I've looked in. And also, it's a nice place to spend your time.
Maldives is pretty moderate, and people are friendly, intelligent and resouceful. Already there is a very good network of communcation within the country. With mobile networks lining the whole nations and data feeds comming in from all over.
The other interesting thing is that it's right on the equator (which has certain advantages to statellite communcations).
I'm thinking about creating a data bank. Or online storage, like the swiss bank, execpt you store data and in any quantity that you like. The data would be encrypted and no one who looks after it would know what it is. I think this is something that is feasble in that country. But international laws are expanding so fast you jsut dont know what the world would sign into the next day.
