Comment High speed internet is the ONE thing... (Score 0) 95

It's the one thing you can't get around with new tech. Like, I'd love to move to the mountains when I retire, have solar, batteries, well water, all the cool newer tech that makes it possible to do it and still live a modern life, but the internet issue always throws a wrench into the equation. As more and more people shift to remote work, little havens like this guy has created, will likely flourish, at the very least, flourish in comparison to surrounding areas.

My parents are so gullible. They are always talking about how "This thing we were looking at, went on sale, you gotta keep an eye out!" bragging about how they have figured out that they offer codes to people who view products. They think they are gaming the system, but it's the freaking system doing what it was designed to do /facepalm

The comments here, some are good, most are insane. The attitude that if you blame one party, you have to blame them all, is essentially not different than the argument people use for not tipping. You are arguing semantics. If your only way to debate a topic is to explain how the topic is too hard, you have a shit argument.

OP, were those bullies Type As? In my experience, Type As hate Type Cs (many of us tech types), because of exactly what you said. They live off BSing, pretending to have knowledge, or intermixing knowledge with BS. A person who has actual knowledge, and also knows their shortcomings, is seen as a threat to Type As. For one, they think people with knowledge are often frauds, like them, because they often can't see the difference between you and them, as they lack the detail oriented nature.

Nothing makes me more pissed off for going to the movies than finishing my popcorn, or meal (Cinebistro), before the movie even starts because there are SO many ads and trailers. With a projector and a better sound system at home, it just makes no sense for me to ever go to the movies again. Why do they think making something worse will help? I get that they want those short term profits, but retail, movie theaters, are all dying because while they get worse, new alternatives get better and better.
