Oblivion Patch Causing Issues 68

The much anticipated patch for Oblivion is here, but it has come at a cost. 1up reports on complaints from users about lockups, lagging, and some curious technical problems. From the article: "Even though the patch cleans up a number of glitches quests, many are still upset because it doesn't solve their existing issues. If you've already run into and experienced a glitch quest, there's a good chance the patch will do nothing to fix it; the patch can't fix contaminated saves. Consequently, Bethesda employees have been recommending fans start new characters if they want to experience these quests."

I agree that it may be the case that they need to control their assets better. However, they were not intimidated by the ESRB. The ESRB and Rockstar appear to be intimidated by politics of their ratings and games respectively.

I agree that this does not seem to be the case with the GTA series, but the question is "Are they going to double-think themselves before continuing potential directions their games could go or will they just release the game?"

I personally think that Rockstar is smart enough to continue publishing their games and making moves in the right direction when it comes to game content. I just think that the question still still remains "are they beginning to censor their material?" and if so "by how much?"

Microsoft Launches First Shared Source Contest 170

With several XBox 360's and an HDTV on the line, hackers will download 120-day trial versions of Windows CE and associated tools, and create 'cool, real-world' apps using designated shared source components. Judging criteria include originality, real-world practicality, feature-extension of the Shared Source components, project documentation, and a short video that demonstrates the successful operation of the project. The Grand Prize is a complete Xbox 360 dream setup consisting of the Xbox 360 console, a 34-inch HDTV, games, and accessories. Three other winners will be awarded Xbox 360 game consoles."

ATI's CrossFire Xpress 3200 and NVIDIA's new nForce 590 SLI are run through an exhaustive suite of application, peripheral, and power consumption tests with surprising results. The nForce 590 SLI definitely has the edge when it comes to the sheer number of integrated peripherals and extra features, but the CrossFire Xpress 3200's performance is competitive, and its leaner approach pays big power consumption dividends.
