My 32GB DDR4 RAM kit cost ~140â in 2022 and is now 359â at retail prices. That's more than double, but it's still 200â increase. If an automaker bases a price hike on that, they can add 200â to the car price (let's ignore the fact that even now 32GB are not for an infotainment system but for a pretty good computer, those things probably carry 8GB on high end cars). Besides, I bought a 400â Pixel 9a earlier this year. Pixel 10a is at the same price point now. My car's infotainment is lower end than that, so that's the max amount for the whole infotainment system.
Describing the hike as percentages of the car prices and talking about 2000â is bullshit, they are describing how *speculation* on RAM shortage might affect car prices. 2000â is still an damn good gaming computer, FFS.
