There is also a different kind of audience creating a bias for heavier useage of PCs. Most gaming happens on PCs and not macs. Gaming pushes the speeds / bandwidth to the maximum and generates heat more. There was a lot of audio / video work on Macs, but that happens occasionally. In the past 10 years more developers use Macs, but development generally does not keep CPU at maximum for extended periods of times.

Battery can expand due to difference in pressures, screen can crack, water seal may break, microphone may have its diaphragm damaged. Just the stuff I can see from difference in pressure.

There are also several issues with these "super thin" phones. 1) cameras stick out a lot, 2) battery life is shorter. I'd much rather prefer a phone 5mm thicket so that cameras are flush and with a 1.5x longer lasting battery.

The issue is that as an owner of a house I can chose to dig the ground and add a conduit for a new fiber provider, while if I rent something, the owner may simply not allow this. As a result, the choice is often between a hard-wired connection that is a part of the deal vs a wireless solution which will only work perfectly in ~ 10% cases where the signal is good and saturation is low. The biggest benefit that comes out of this - hopefully ISPs will lower their INSANELY HIGH PRICES they charge. The biggest problem - they may stop just putting infrastructure to places where it simply costs more than they can gain. And then people in these areas, overall, will have an inferior internet.

Agree. SSDs do not consume 20W. First, most drives most of the time run on idle. SSDs just keep the controller running at minimum speed and HDDs just spin and have the head rarely moving. Second, at such "mostly idle" usage, consumer 2.5" SATA and M.2 SATA or NVME or PCIE drives would idle just around 2-3W - similar to 2.5" HDDs. Faster drives will have higher consumption on both ends - SSDs will power more memory and rotational drives will spin faster. But that's max 2x on idle. 20W would be a consumption for some rare and super fast SSDs which are probably used in much smaller quantities.

Yeah, I would agree that 1% difference can be just some kind of a variance error as well. Suppose that locations without PFAs simply had better air or more sun or better food, ...

Disabling C-States used to make CPU not go into lower power modes at Idle. I always used that on all of my Desktops and Servers in 2010-2018. Yet it did not seem to affect the maximum power consumption when the CPU is loaded 100%. Why would they all of a sudden ask not to disable that?

It's pretty good for writing functions that you can immediately test. I also have an odd statistics with it - a lot of times it generates code which doesn't work correctly. Which is rather unfortunate because often that code looks pretty good. But in some cases I was surprised with how it generated code better than I thought I would write. Overall, when I tried it to write code for me ~ 10 times total, I got 2 rock solid functions done correctly.

It seems every time MS tries to "dumb things down" they don't understand that developers actually need more power and as a result all these "new technologies" like WPF, UWP, Windows Phone end up dying... Yet the powerful core stuff like Win32 / WinForms still stays.

I just tried this on both Windows XP and Windows 10 VMs and both were fine just showing "invalid command.". No drive check on restart either.

Some of these great cumulative patches break things like Bluetooth.... Not a big deal for work, but definitely a problem for personal use.
