Journal ncc74656's Journal: Paper Thief Update #2 5
The president of the HOA dropped by this evening shortly after I got back from work. He had seen my flyer this morning, before the thief pulled them down. On the one hand, the CC&Rs say that kind of stuff isn't supposed to be posted. On the other hand, the thief has apparently been causing other problems here, so the CC&R stuff will be overlooked for now. The thief has gotten away with whatever else he's been doing because nobody's had any hard evidence on him until now. Now that there's video evidence of petty theft, they have something they can hand to the police and/or district attorney's office.
I edited the video and authored a DVD. In addition to the theft, it also includes the paper carrier tossing the paper to my door about 50 minutes earlier, so it's clear that there actually was a paper to steal. I passed along a copy of the DVD to the HOA prez. If Metro or the DA's office wants the original, unprocessed video, I still have that.
I was all set to just go the shame-and-humiliation route. I'm not going to complain, though, if the HOA wants to have the perp frog-marched out of here instead. It'll be interesting to see what happens from here on out.

Sounds like they need to take "Live Free or Die" off their license plates, if they haven't already. :-P

I was thinking a smear campaign against the fellow seemed a little out of place. I'm glad your HOA folks talked to you about it. Granted, I'd hate to be part of a HOA cause it's my stuff, I don't need someone else telling me how to use it. If I don't want to mow all my yard, I won't! But that's another rant.
