I'm 42 years old. I work since I am 20. I'm in Quebec, Canada. In Montreal since 2000.
I *just* got called this summer: I finally have a family doctor. after 42 years. You find this normal ?
Until then, it was a pain in the neck to meet a doctor. There are (paying) website to help you get a doctor appointment when something goes wrong. Oh, I have three kids. Same things for them. I got an otitis this winter. Took me a *whole week* to get a doctor ! Oh, I could have gotten to the emergency room: Would have waited a day or so to PERHAPS meet a doctor
Our system does NOT work, I'm sorry. They should give us back the tax money we give for health and let us deal with proper private insurance. Oh and have I told you that our "free" system does not pay for pills or other medication. You have to have proper private insurance for this or you pay dearly in your taxes.
The system works in the US. It clearly rewards people who pays for it. For you, Doctor Hibbert in the Simpsons is normal. For us, it's science fiction.
