Submission + - Microsoft bows to complaint from Linpro

Martin writes: Microsoft has agreed to change the terms of its School Agreement contract with Norwegian regional municipalities, following a complaint by Norwegian open-source software company Linpro to The Norwegian Competition Authority (NCA). The only article in English, so far, is available from Linpro. However, some articles in Norwegian are available from other parties, like the NCA, and the Norwegian newspaper Dagens IT.

Submission + - IBM Heralds 3-D Chip Breakthrough

David Kesmodel from WSJ writes: "IBM said it achieved a breakthrough in developing a three-dimensional semiconductor chip that can be stacked on top of another electronic device in a vertical configuration, the Wall Street Journal reports. Chip makers have worked for years to develop ways to connect one type of chip to another vertically to reduce size and power use. The new chips may appear in cellphones and other communication devices as soon as next year, the WSJ reports."

The Google Summer of Code website now provides a full list of the projects accepted for Summer of Code 2007. Organizations have a varying number of accepted slots ranging from about 3 projects up to 10 or more for some of the larger organizations. Lets hold a congratulations for all the accepted applicants and best wishes for successful project completions.
