Comment I am buying less, and I am pretty happy about it. (Score -1) 72

...I didn't support Trump (ever), but I am actually happy about this.

1. I am spending about 70% less on Amazon. I cancelled Prime already, after so many years.
2. I am decluttering what I do own. We found some unopened boxes of Amazon orders from years ago, in the basement. Sold that NIB stuff on FB Marketplace.
3. I am paying more attention to how I can buy in bulk for the items I do want (whey protein, nitrile gloves, etc). Amazon is too expensive on EVERYTHING, but the convenience seemed "worth it".
4. I don't know what else I might ever actually need from buying online, really.

I used my Ai agent to analyze my Amazon spend over 15 years, and it's ridiculous. I want to cut that spend by 90% in 2026, and put the 10% to relationship vendors I can buy bulk from.

Comment As an indie film producer... (Score 0) 97

...I make bad bad bad quality films. 3/10 usually. If we get 6/10, we screwed up.

Our goal is simple: create films for people to watch in the background of their doom scrolling, so we get the ad revenue share. That's IT.

Hollywood is dead. I release most of my low quality films in theaters. I stand in the front of the theater and watch the audience and they all doom scroll. So I went to a few huge name actor films this year, and did the same.

Guess what? Audiences doom scroll in the theater, too.

No.

Take the 4 years of college you wasted, and the 4 years of high school you wasted to prep for college and instead look at what you could have done financially and learning skills and saving those incomes while living at home for free.

College is a net and gross loss compared to any skill building job at 15-22, along with zero cost of living and 8 years of stacking in any high yield ETF.

I am capitalist and I support all of this.

Depopulate the consumer class.

End the ridiculously poorly received middle class.

Let skilled labor become the modern serf caste.

I loved society during quarantine. Empty roads, empty planes, empty beaches. We discovered we donâ(TM)t need about 8.6 billion people at all. Anyone who stayed home for more than 2 weeks is disposable.

Letâ(TM)s.

I signed up for DoorDash to get a ton of airline miles after making one delivery.

Holy cow they treat drivers horribly. $8 offer for a 10 mile run sounded fine. The restaurant said the order was already picked up. So I had to cancel. Which DoorDash threatened to ban me over for cancelling a stolen order.

Then my second order was $4 for 8 miles. I snagged it annoyed because I wanted the miles.

Restaurant order wasnâ(TM)t ready. I pressed âoeorder not readyâ button. Nothing changed. 15 minutes of waiting. Restaurant told me I could cancel (and get dinged).

Finally got the order. The 8 miles drive was as the crow flies, ended up being 11.5 miles. To an apartment complex. With NO parking and tow signs everywhere. And no elevator.

And I originally drove 3 miles to the restaurant and whatever miles home.

Also, the $4 included a $2 tip so it was a $2 delivery for 20 miles and 1 hour.

Wow.

I own, but do not operate, a few IT companies that manage corporations in the $600MM-$1B receivables range.

Based on our own help desk ticket software, our clients have opened 40% fewer tickets since ChatGPT was rolled out to every desk and phone. 40%. I expect another 40% drop (total 80%) by next year as end users just manage things themselves.

I won't downsize as the tickets aren't really generating revenue as much as headaches. One of my engineers had a broken PDF file that took her 6 hours to fix, and the end user spent 6 days trying to fix it themselves with Ai.

But -- the basic stuff? Reboot your computer stuff? Email rejected because you mistyped a domain name stuff?

You don't need a human, and we would probably have outsource that stuff to India anyway next year if not for ChatGPT etc.
