I have a Samsung i730, it has both options: real buttons and simulated. Despite the fact that real buttons are really small and very inconvenient they still beat those ridiculous simulated once.

That is the nature of the capitalism. Everybody is trying to move to the larger niche. Large market niches have fierce competition making products better and cheaper, while smaller niche markets have overexpensive crappy products.
