Comment I wonder why minetest gets so little publicty (Score 1) 72

I've seen kids (9-12) creating mods, tweaking things in lua (not always fully understanding what they were doing, but doing it effectively), adding skins ... And the ecosystem is huge, you can get mods for everything you can think of: dragons, programmable robots, builders, ... all open source with pretty good documentation and a wiki.

Many kids from my school no longer play Minecraft (after seeing what the others can do with Minetest) and I guess, if a school is serious about teaching code and letting them discover the inner workings of software, they should go try to build skills and knowledge on Minetest, not Minecraft.

Submission + - Electric vehicles emit more CO2 than diesel ones, German study shows (brusselstimes.com)

schwit1 writes: When CO2 emissions linked to the production of batteries and the German energy mix — in which coal still plays an important role — are taken into consideration, electric vehicles emit 11% to 28% more than their diesel counterparts, according to the study, presented on Wednesday at the Ifo Institute in Munich.

Mining and processing the lithium, cobalt and manganese used for batteries consume a great deal of energy. A Tesla Model 3 battery, for example, represents between 11 and 15 tonnes of CO2...

When all these factors are considered, each Tesla emits 156 to 180 grams of CO2 per kilometre, which is more than a comparable diesel vehicle produced by the German company Mercedes, for example.

Anyone valuing his privacy enough to use such a device probably already would not allow an eavesdropping device to exist in his living room. So who exactly is the target audience?

Maybe you find an Echo in your hotel room, or in your university dorm or common space ... Your significant other's house? It's like covering a camera.
