Comment Patent? (Score 1) 89

This reminds me how Herman Cainâs Twitter account suddenly started tweeting again 2 weeks after his death. Anyway, I donâ(TM)t understand this patent at all. Training LLM on someoneâ(TM)s social media posts and likes seems like an absolutely obvious idea; and once you have that, what does it matter whether youâ(TM)re dead or not?

Comment About that âoereasonable personââ&# (Score 1) 53

The bill defines knowledge to include what is "fairly implied on the basis of objective circumstances" -- in other words, what a reasonable person would conclude from how the account is being used. What a bizarre legal standard; very few people have any real life experience with judging kidâ(TM)s age by their posting history. If given such task, two âoereasonable personsâ could arrive to vastly different conclusions. Simply put, making this call is not a matter of reasoning, but of knowing vast amount of usage data which can then be used to draw conclusions based on statistical analysis. âoeReasonable personâ standard is simply inapplicable here.

Submission + - OpenDocument Foundation closes down

Munchkinguy writes: "First, they dropped support for their namesake OpenDocument Format and switching to W3C "Compund Document Format". Then, W3C's Chris Lilley says that CDF is "was not created to be, and isn't suitable for use as, an office format". Now, the Foundation has mysteriously shut down, leaving the following message:

The OpenDocument Foundation, Inc. is closed. We sincerely wish our friends and associates in the OpenDocument Community all the best and much success going forward. Good-bye and good luck.
