DHI Group, Inc. (NYSE: DHX), today announced that it completed the sale of its Slashdot and SourceForge businesses (together referred to as "Slashdot Media") to BIZX, LLC in a transaction that closed on January 27, 2016. Financial terms were not disclosed.
DHI first announced its plan to sell Slashdot Media in July 2015 as part of its strategy to focus on its core brands, as Slashdot Media no longer fits within the Company's core strategic initiatives.
KeyBanc Capital Markets Inc. served as the Company's exclusive financial advisor for the transaction.

Hardkernel released a new Raspberry Pi compatible board based on the Samsung Exynos SoC. The board is smaller than a typical Pi, keeping basic HDMI, USB and CSI interfaces. It also has 26 pin expansion board with more GPIO available, however it lacks an Ethernet jack. Initial prices as estimated around $30.
Interesting to note that the author calls out that the Pi Foundation is likely to run into similar name retention problems as Arduino has had as competitors call their boards "Pi Compatible".

The ACLU has issued a FOIA request to determine how the IRS is using its warrantless ability to read email. The request is based on the antiquated Electronic Communication Protection Act federal agencies can and do request and read email that is over 180 days old. Reports early Tuesday morning say that a software update to the Space Station caused a communication blackout with Houston control. Remediation of the update has allowed the astronauts limited communication every 90 minutes or so. It is expected that the issue will be resolved today.

An article reported by the WSJ discusses why online media users are more rude online than they are in person. The story discusses some of the possible reasons being lowered inhibitions because there is formal social interaction. Other theories include feeling like reporting on a phone or other device is simply communicating with a "toy" which dehumanizes the conversation. Film makers keep touting increased frame per second rate as improving viewing and cinema experience, however the number of theaters who actually support the equipment that can play the higher rate film. It makes me wonder if this is in the real interest of creating a better experience and art, or if it is a ploy by the media manufacturers to sell more expensive equipment and drive ticket prices up.

Sources say that it will provide context focused advertising/product placement as well as metadata about the media you are currently viewing. Additionally the interface allows you to store viewing data and share between your desktop and mobile devices to continue viewing content between devices.

In an interesting article from the BBC News Magazine, the author explores the reasons why most fantasy worlds use British as their primary accent. Citing specific examples from recent/upcoming shows/movies like Lord of The Rings/The Hobbit and Game of Thrones. The article states that the British accent is "sufficiently exotic", "comprehensible" and has a "splash of otherness".
It would be odd to think of a fantasy world having a New Jersey accent, or even a Mid-West accent, which tends to be the default for TV and movies in the USA, but how do UK viewers feel about having British as a default? More specifically, what about the range of UK accents, like Scottish, Welsh, Cockney
The International Dialects of English Archive shows at least 9 regional sounds, with dozens of sub regional pronunciations in England alone. In the USA there have always been many regional accents that might be used more interestingly film makers might consider looking at speech accents from other areas of the world to create more interesting combinations in speech.
