The poplulation of the study is half Vaccinated, half Placebo. 95% of the positives were in the Placebo group 5% in the Vaccinated. The total group was told to go on and do what they ordinarily do. That means a certain percentage of the total wore masks, social distanced, etc. Since no one knew whether they had the real thing, or for that matter if the real thing was effective I imagine since many were concerned enough about Covid to take a chance on an early trial (with unknown sidef effects) this group was more careful than the general population.
So what I'm getting at is there no way to think the 95% number reflects what a vaccinated persons chances are without a mask or taking careful measures. The data doesn't speak to this.
This just reinforces the argument that vaccinated people should continue to take the standard measures, to protect themselves, not just the usual argument that they should do it to limit spread and set an example.
