kelarius writes: The lawyers for image sharing website FunnyJunk.com sent a letter to Matthew Inman (the owner of theoatmeal.com) threatening a lawsuit and demanding $20,000 to make the whole thing go away. In response, Inman made a joke about trying to raise the $20,000 and donating it to the National Wildlife Fund and the American Cancer Society. Over the course of three hours, he has managed to raise over $50,000 and it appears that the amount is still going up.
kelarius writes: Channel 9's Coding4Fun blog has recently announced that they have added gaming style achievements to Virtual Studio. Achievements range from "Go To Hell" for using a goto to "Lonely" for coding on a Friday or Saturday night.
kelarius writes: CNN reports that Spotify, which makes Internet music-streaming software, launched the much-hyped U.S. version of its service after delays and years of negotiation. At first, Spotify will only accept new members to its free service who receive invitations from the company, one of its sponsors or a current user. "This is the biggest market in the world," Kenneth Parks, Spotify's content chief, said in an interview late Wednesday. "We haven't done a launch this large."
Kelarius writes: "Rueters reports that MPC Corp, which purchased Gateway's Professional unit last year, is closing up shop and liquidating all of their assets. This could be bad news for anyone with a Gateway Pro or MPC computer since they will no longer receive any warranty support or parts for their systems."
