Let me clarify. Kids were waiting for buses in the dark. The reflective dots were being given out gratis by many businesses in order to make the kids more visible on the side of the road. Most kids in the US leave school by 3 PM. Itâ(TM)s not dark at 3 PM. If theyâ(TM)re leaving later than that, theyâ(TM)re getting picked up in a car. The only thing that has changed in 52 years is now we have a president who thinks you have to climb up the outside of a clock tower to move the hands on the clock twice a year. Stick to standard time year round.

Google Classroom is a rubber band ball of stuff tacked on to a bare bones concept of what happens in a classroom. It has a single instance, no beta, no backup. It does not allow exporting to a common format. It uses a single porthole view which cripples the ability to power rate lesson plans and differentiate in a useful manner. And it is made by an advertising and data capture company.

What seemed to be noticeable errors this past year on watching my vehicle track on GPS. Some major lags on positioning, and even some apparent forays off road while traveling on an interstate. I realize the radio testing was done in the northeast Atlantic, but it seems like a possible explanation for something I had not seen in a long time. I also realize mine is an anecdote and not significant data. I do remember when they turned off selective availability, rigging my Garmin to the computer so I could watch the position accuracy numbers tighten up.

Each LMS has some amazing features and some features that make you want to go back to stone tablets.
Canvas was the first LMS we used. They always spoke about report card creation, but we got tired of waiting.
So another platform after a decade. Which swore they could import standard LMS exported content, but nope.
Back then it was a choice between roll-your-own Moodle, branded/hosted Moodle, Blackboard - experienced users said please no - and Canvas.
We were impressed by the test and backup instances, and that they were willing to try moving into K-12.
And that Canvas was built as a project after gauging dissatisfaction with existing platforms. Mostly Blackboard.
Problem? Invoke your backup instance. Not sure how something is going to fly? Try the test instance.
Working with others who have had Google Classroom - still no test instance, backups are third party, no student view.
Yes, the core of GC is free, but you're still getting mission-critical software from an ad company.
I've not kept up since we switched, but as bad as this is, this is an impressively long time to go without a crippling event.
