Also in the same countries, most banks cross-check the transaction by calling the account holder to avoid such situations. You can specify the limit in which banks will clear the cheques without calling otherwise they need confirmation from the account holder. It definitely helps.

During my undergrad year had to code a few types of sorts in my Computer Science class (using C Lang), quick sort gave me nightmare because of recursion and being new to the topic. May St. Peter use Quick Sort at the Pearly Gates to sort him to his place in heaven.... :)
