To me this is a big issue, maybe they should have went for Leap Minute, or maybe something like the ancient Romans did, The day has 86400 seconds and vary the second length based upon day of the year. IIRC, google did something like this years ago.
But why even change, I think all modern OSs solved the Leap Second issue anyway, seems a waste to me.
Same here, no thanks. Defender is just a waste of CPU cycles. If you configure a Linux "desktop" the way UN*X was intended no need for an AV.
Plus the title should be "Microsoft Defender Now Supports Linux systemd Desktops".
Well this is what you get when as a company you support a crazy person and party. The GOP went for "America First", so US Tech is starting to loose the EU market and Trump forced China to speed up its own tech centers. In a few short years China will be far ahead in tech.
Hope M/S people like counting their tax break $ while seeing 2 of its largest markets moving away from their products.
Then add a 25% or more sales tax to all packages that are not recycled per what this law is trying to do. The current US Supreme Court has said many times State Taxes cannot be regulated by the Federal Gov.
And yet they are not dropping support for that filesystem without encryption, which is why Apple is literally doing what you said they are not doing.
I cannot mod you up even though I have points, this new
This highlights yet another reason to avoid proprietary Operating Systems. People bought these probably overpriced items and encrypted them for a reason, now Apple is saying "TFB, you cannot use the hardware the way you want.". What is next, dropping support for that hardware ?
Yet another reason people should move to Linux or a *BSD.
1989 GNU rewrite of the original Linux Bourne Shell
After reading this line at the start of the article, I stopped reading. For people with their heads in the sand, Linux did not exist in 1989, inconceivable.
What I want to know is why the Linux Foundation is keeping quite about these Age Verification Laws. Don't they support the users anymore ?
Without these users in the 90s and early 2000, there would be no LF paying high salaries so people can create documents using Microsoft Word on Windows.
The countdown begins. I wonder when Hyundai will move Boston Dynamics to a state like Texas or off-shore. But maybe since it is involved with US defense maybe off-shoring will not happen.
Or it will not happen until the Defense portion of the business is spun off to a whole owned subsidiary based in DC.
I wonder if OpenSSH will be acceptable. Or does this certification only apply to commercial products ? AFAIK OpenSSH would be acceptable.

This will work fine until 2039, which is 12 years away. I think it is better to go to NetBSD, they make a point of supporting old systems.
Plus NetBSD 32 bit is fully 2038 compliant and has been for many years.
