It's hard not to sound like a troll when talking about this. Just don't drive drunk. I don't care if it's inconvenient for you. I don't care if cabs are expensive. I don't care if you can handle your alcohol well. I support very strong DUI laws. It just seems like you're playing russian roulette with other peoples' lives. Driving drunk is such an obviously stupid thing to do that I question anybody sense who argues for leniency regarding drunk driving.

If you remove BAC from the laws, what objective proof would we that somebody was driving impaired? An officer's subjective opinion about how he thought you were driving? In court, it would just be your word against the officer's. At least BAC is an objective piece of evidence to lend credence to an officer's testimony.

Change college ranking criteria, and you will change tenure requirements. Change tenure requirements, and you will change publishing habits. University presidents care how they appear in the college rankings, and faculty productivity (publishing in big journals) in on key to those rankings. So they help to create tenure requirements that ensure that faculty publish in top journals. They don't care if those top journals are open access or not.

Honestly, I had no idea what AppleCare was until Steve Jobs mentioned it. I didn't know I was supposed to call that phone # to complain instead of ATT. I called AppleCare during his press conference to complain because reception IS an issue with my phone.

Of course, hearing him talk about fixing the proximity sensor made me think that maybe that's my real problem. I don't know if it's AT&T's network that's dropping my calls, or my face. Either way, there are problems.

Governments do things all of the time that make systems hard to implement. Adding a new currency doesn't seem terribly cumbersome in comparison to other government requirements.

For example, apparently Thailand just passed a Thai Computer Crimes Act that requires IT providers to track who has viewed people blogs just in case some blogger has said something critical of the Thai government. So, if your company has people in Thailand (we do), and they can potentially post information on a blog, you've got some work to do.
