Submission + - Ask Slashdot: Can we abstract all Slashdot posts?

highphilosopher writes: It strikes me that almost all slashdot posts could be abstracted down to their basic types. I see a lot of "I've been doing this for so long that" posts, and plenty of "Company XYZ's product is so superior/inferior" posts. Perhaps if we had a way to setup basic abstract posts that could magically fill in tags from the story, it would save us all a lot of time.

Submission + - Who can fix the patent system? We Can! With some help from StackExchange (stackoverflow.com)

highphilosopher writes: So the latest patent reform laws had a little clause in there that the public can submit prior work to the patent office to disprove bad patents. This plus a willing USPTO Director, and the good people at StackExchange makes a winning combination. A StackExchange site dedicated to collecting prior art for bad patents! This is the first thing I've seen that actually does something good for patents.

Submission + - Obama smartphone choices (wsj.com)

highphilosopher writes: After getting a bear hug from a pizza guy, when handed an iPhone the President of the United States was unsure how to dial a number. He said "See, I still have a blackberry."
How does the populous of slashdot feel about the President still carrying a blackberry.
Sidenote, have any of you ever had trouble dialing a number on any smartphone?
