There seems to be a tendency to conflate AI with LLMs. LLM development, which seems to be the direction for most of the industry, is consuming obscene amounts of money. Trying to build "better" LLMs results in models that consume their own output. This results in Hapsburg Syndrome with increasing hallucination and eventual model collapse Other forms of AI development require more human involvement and less silicon.
