Yes, Florida, the same state that elected Ron DeSantis as their governor. And this: Florida Sen. Jason Brodeur (R-Lake Mary) wants bloggers who write about Gov. Ron DeSantis, Attorney General Ashley Moody, and other members of the Florida executive cabinet or legislature to register with the state or face fines.

The author of this article makes a number of unsupported assumptions. He attributes the recent layoffs at iQiyi to a "crackdown" by the Chinese government. He makes no mention of the exact nature of this crackdown other than a vague reference to increased regulation. It is not an axiom that government regulation is necessarily detrimental to competition or innovation. In fact, the opposite is often true. Government regulations often serve to increase competition by preventing monopolies and cartels. If the regulation by the Chinese government is primarily for the purpose of censorship, this would be detrimental to democracy but it should not prevent the Chinese equivalent of Netflix from delivering video content. It is quite possible that the recent layoffs by iQiyi are the result of at least four quarters of negative net income and negative operating cash flow. Apparently the investment community does not seem to be particularly distressed by the regulatory actions of the Chinese government with respsect to iQiyi. Their stock price is up over 4% today.
