You are self taught, to me this means you have a greater confidence in your own skills than someone who edged their way through school.
I come from a similar situation. I am a computer technician whom is self taught. At first, places were shooting me down left and right, what I did was asked for a skills-based interview; I proved my skills to them.
Anyone can get a piece of paper, but the skills you learned are invaluable. In your situation, build up a portfolio, and go into a workplace with confidence. Ask to speak to the manager, and pitch yourself to them, don't just submit a resume.
