"Anything in a Vindaloo sauce (typically the hottest on the menu) is INCREDIBLE!"
I am absolutely in love with Thai food. The flavor is beautiful, and the heat of their spices is erotic. I am the type of guy that goes to a Thai restaurant and says, "Can I please have a gang gai (or whatever it was), the one with the hot coconut milk, and could you make it EXTRA, EXTRA spicy, as hot as you can make it. And I don't want the 'spicy' you make for Americans. I want your Asian extra, extra spicy."
This I do almost every time. But there was one occasion when that almost got me killed. A lot of Indian food is Just Plain Bland to me, I actually came to dislike it. But that was until I discovered that they have a *huge* variety of foods, spices, and flavors. On this occasion, I had made my usual request and was brought my spiced-up food, along with this dark red pepper sauce in a very small dish. As I was about to put some of the sauce on my food, the waiter came running toward me screaming, "Stop! Use only one drop! Just one drop!" I put a couple, and, once he left, a couple more. (Mind you, I have the strange habit of only tasting my food *after* I have already applied extra spices.)
In this Indian restaurant though, I had met not my match, but my superior. My pride was soon turned to humility as I met with heat pangs that were horridly beyond belief. I could know no peace for the next few hours.
