As other prior art examples consider Apple's own Hypertext ... or Xerox Viewpoint software, which was a document frame embedding executable objects like graphics, tables, spreadsheets, etc ... at the very least it would appear Hypertext was a precursor of the browser and of the mechanisms being claimed by these patents ... both of these date from the mid 1980's (perhaps even earlier for Viewpoint).

... and they work quite well. They sample handwriting (and printing) in context, and in use they alter the shape of letters based on which letter they follow and precede. Contextual fonts can link letters to make realistic cursive writing.

See the folks who make the "personal font" -- I had mine digitized years ago and am quite happy with it. I use mine for "printing" rather than script -- quite effectively. Also handy for adding a signature to digital documents.
