haberb writes: "I always thought my HTC phones were of average or above average quality, and certainly no less secure than an vanilla android install, but it turns out someone was still not impressed.

Mobile device manufacturer HTC America has agreed to settle Federal Trade Commission charges that the company failed to take reasonable steps to secure the software it developed for its smartphones and tablet computers, introducing security flaws that placed sensitive information about millions of consumers at risk.

Perhaps this will push HTC to release some of the ICS upgrades they promised a few months ago but never delivered, or perhaps the reason they fell through in the first place?"

If they made it easier to upgrade from xp 32bit to win7 64bit, then I would have done the switch long ago. I have the upgrade disk, a new hard drive, and backups. I just can stand the thought of reinstalling or downloading all of the apps I have all over again, maintaining compatibility, etc. What a PITA.

But in February, the same force identified a teenage cat-abuser in Oklahoma — within 24 hours of his video's appearance on YouTube. 'Netizens are the new Jack Bauer,' argues one science writer, and with three billion potential detectives, 'attempts to hide will only add thrill to the chase.' But China's vigilantes ultimately turned their attention to China's Internet Propaganda Office, bypassing censorship of a director's personal information using social networks, including Twitter. The author suggests there's a new principle emerging in the online world: 'The Internet does not forget, does not forgive and cannot be stopped. Ever.'"

I would go with your term Web Editor in this case, as the description sounds more like what periodical publication editors may do, with regards to how sentence structure may be presented (blockquote, italics, etc.), and navigation (index, pagenumbers, headings etc.), all of which only requires basic HTML expertise.

Phones are used to route calls onto other phones, constructing mesh networks of 'up to 20km'. The BBC reports on the natural tendency of the big telecoms providers to want to squash this. I can see other problems though. The advantages in an environment with sparse cell coverage are obvious, but network effects mean that the number of connections in a heavily populated mesh grow exponentially. What happens to your battery life when your phone becomes a node? And while the company is optimistic that they have a viable technology model from IP licensing, the demand for devices supporting this is going to be proportional to the number of devices that it can connect you to."

Depending on how long Utube.com has been online, they really should have been prepared for this. Trademark issues aside, anyone who relies on their website for their business should really consider purchasing as many variations of their domain name as they can possibly afford. There's very little reason not too as cheap as domain names are these days. Otherwise fair is fair.
