Journal grub's Journal: A Slashdot Zeitgeist? 3

Has /. ever published a statistical breakdown of visitor stats? Something like Google's Zeitgeist?

I think it'd be interesting to see how many visitors to an "open source friendly" site were actually using open source and non-monopoly OSs and/or browsers.

Granted there are things like proxies and agent modifing software but I think those would only skew the stats by a very small amount.

Taco? Anyone?

A Slashdot Zeitgeist?

  • It would also be skewed by what they use at work, at least for operating system. But yeah, it would be very interesting to see.

  • ...kinda cool. I know it would be skewed but it would stil be interesting. Considering the slowdown of traffic to the Slashdot site in the past month or two, I wonder if we would have seen a huge drop in the graph? Slashdot is a lot more like it used to be back in '98 in terms of readers and posters now. I don't know if that's because of the Digg.com sucking sound, or just the all Slashdotters have simultaneously hit busy periods in their lives. • I've actually seen a few different versions of this. I can only find one right now and it has a lot more information, but it includes data from sources other than just /..

They're done basically the same way: a geek gets his site slashdotted and after the smoke clears he releases the browser and os data from his server logs. this [komar.org] is the example I can find. He links to his server logs, but I'll save you scanning for it and include the link [komar.org].

The other case I remember didn't include raw data from the logs
