Although I don't remember seeing this on Slashdot, this has been around long enough to e featured in the books The Home Theater Book, Manspace, A Primal Guide to Marking Your Territory, Electronic House Magazine, and Look what I did! on HGTV."

gevmage writes: "CNN reports that the the "Opportunity" rover on Mars has reached the Victoria crater.

The rovers Spirit and Opportunity arrived on Mars three years ago with planned mission lifetime of 90 days. The rover Spirit is wounded, having only 5 of 6 wheels functioning, and so it's moving quite slowly. However, Opportunity is still going strong and has been trucking towards the massive crater Victoria for almost the past year. Scientists have been hoping that Opportunity would get there so they can have a look at geologically older areas — and it's finall made it! (The story is obviously out — nasa.gov is currently unresponsive.)"

gevmage writes: "Anousheh Ansari, founder of the X Prize and fourth "space tourist" to the International Space Station is going to be writing a blog during her several day visit, which began this last Wednesday.

She says in the current entry that her submissions are batched and she doesn't have a live browser to read comments. I assume this is the first blog from space?"
