Bazzite is part of the Universal Blue Project which are a handful of official images and also the base for custom images, they would have to duplicate the work from that project if they switch to something else.
Also, one of the main components for the system is "rpm-ostree" which is obviously rpm only but also seems to be quite Fedora centric.

If the application+version you want is in your distributions repository it sure is awesome.

If not you have to pray there is a .deb file or preferably a 3rd party repository so you get automatic updates for your specific distribution+version.

If not you will have to try to install the .deb that isn't made for your specific distribution+version and then there are almost guaranteed problems with library versions not matching or other issues and there is nothing you can do about it other than compile it from source or well install one of those "pack" formats (which got their own problems).

It's a mess now with the free-to-play large map Warzone mode being a big hit.
They choose to merge weapons and operators (player skins/models) from the last 3 games into warzone.
So now you have modern, coldwar and ww2 weapons in the same game, with most of the ww2 weapons being the best. The newest stuff is always the best because then people are "encouraged" to buy the latest game for an competitive edge.

Windows NT 4.0 that released one year after Windows 95 had the same shell but still lacked some other features like Plug&Play.
Windows 2000 basically merged the best features from Windows 9x and Windows NT into one OS for both home and pro/office users.
Guess they still thought home users needed another unstable 16/32bit hybrid since they released Windows ME 6 months after Windows 2000.

Adobe's ADEPT DRM Broken 273

An anonymous reader writes "I love cabbages has reverse-engineered Adobe's ADEPT DRM (e-book protection). On February 18, I love cabbages released code that decrypts EPUB e-books protected with ADEPT and followed that up on February 25, with code that decrypts PDF e-books protected with ADEPT. On March 4, I love cabbages was given a DMCA take down notice. And there's plenty of evidence he got it right. DS:TNG (Dmitry Sklyarov: The Next Generation)?"
