I wonder what the range is on this thing. I hope they thought to not include the deck in the targetable area, otherwise I'll bet that he has relatives who'll be furious. Then again, he won't have to worry about those pesky family scrapbooks anymore!

Handwriting recognition is more error prone then just typing in things, however, I think that once users get used to the quirks of the software, they should be alright with it. Although, there are a lot of people who prefer typing and MS probably should make allowances for those people who want to type.

Perhaps they could do some sort of on screen keyboard. Perhaps even turning the left page of the device into a keyboard and have the text on the right page in a landscape view. After someone was done with editing, they could press a button and the document would convert to portrait format for reading.

As to the UI challenges, while I was watching the Gizmodo video, the user was doing a lot of flicking of the screen on the right. I am betting that unless those are shortcuts and that there are more menus then they're showing, many people could get quite confused.

I agree that the Officers were obviously behaving inappropriately. They agree, the department agrees, and most people commenting agree. The question is whether or not, playing a Wii is worth questioning the entire seizure, their whole career, or even the entire department's credibility. Now, I am inclined to believe that since the incident recorded, that the seizure may not be lost. However, I would have to scrutinize the tape to come to a conclusion on that subject. Since they didn't know that they were being recorded it could reveal some other information about the validity of their actions on this particular seizure. It could reveal that they planned to lie about a part of the raid, or even that this was a moment of weakness after a period of great strain, a stupid moment. They are human. I know that that's not an acceptable excuse; there isn't one. However, I don't think that it's necessary to begin questioning whether they planted evidence or stole evidence. I disagree that playing a Wii on duty is on the same level of dishonesty / inappropriate behavior as stealing or planting evidence.
