Feed Engadget: Apple shuts down Think Secret? (engadget.com)

Remember how back in 2005 Apple sued Think Secret, one of the most infamous Apple rumor sites on the block? Apparently TS's publisher Nick Ciarelli (aka Nick DePlume) settled and even managed to keep his inside sources hidden (and the man has many), but paid the ultimate price: he's agreed to shut down the site, presumably for good -- at least in its current incarnation. We've got an email out to their crew to verify because something doesn't seem quite right here, kind of almost feels like a put-on. But who knows, maybe Apple managed to take out one of its most hated sites. Too bad that site also happens to be one of Apple fans' most beloved.

[Thanks, Joe]

Comment I have the shirts!!! (they just arrived) (Score 1) 44

Due to a series of very bad events, I had to bail on the party and not go, as I had to leave out of town a day early (or have no future job.), and had to rapidly get out of the city. Yes, as the orgaizier, this really really sucks to do. I am ashamed, and apolagizr to you all. It was a bad last minute thing.... party vs future... Very Sorry I did not show up... even more sorry i did not pick a good bar., I got back from boston on Yesterday, and found a huge box of Tshrits at my door. Yes, the legendary tshirts. I have them. They are ALL XL. (What are they saying about us?) ' So, should we meet up somewhere to dispense shirts at a bar of someone else's choosing? Someone with better taste?? Again, I am sorry.

Submission + - Linux kernel 2.6.23 to have stable userspace drive

liquidat writes: "Linus Torvalds included patches into the mainline tree which implement a stable userspace driver API into the Linux kernel. The stable driver API was already announced a year ago by Greg Kroah-Hartman. Now the last patches where uploaded and the API was included in Linus tree. The idea of the API is to make life easier for driver developers:

This interface allows the ability to write the majority of a driver in userspace with only a very small shell of a driver in the kernel itself. It uses a char device and sysfs to interact with a userspace process to process interrupts and control memory accesses.

Journal Journal: I'm in the process of getting scammed 14

A few weeks ago I bought a old jeep cj7. I took the hard top off because it's hotter 'n hell out. I decided while the top was crushing my skull, fusing my spine, and otherwise shortening my body and lifespan that I never want to put the thing back on.

So off to craigslist I went to attempt to hock it there and get some of the money needed to get a fancy-pants new softtop.

Comment Refunds? (Score 2, Interesting) 565

I sent an email to Lexar support demanding a refund for my "Secure" Jumpdrive. While I never used the "security" feature that they offer (I bought this because it was cheep at Sam's Club), this is still deceptive advertising. I don't think you can claim a product as "secure" when it is trivial for someone to bypass security.

As one poster commented, "Why not just use ROT-13 to hide the password?"

If Lexar replies, I'll post a follow up. If they don't, then it is off to the BBB to get things fixed.
