Well, not necessarily. There's a difference between a CEO vibe coding and a developer vibe coding. Anyone can write shitty code, AI included. It takes a dev to properly keep the AI in check.

When the web was born JPEG was already there. It was adopted from (ok, almost) day 1, along with GIF.
I suggest you give coding agents a try. They really help. You need to keep them on a tight leash, but they help you move faster and often better if you know how to use them. Nothing related to corporate bean-counters.

Same here. If you don't want buffer overflows and threading issues, C++ is a pretty poor choice for the job. Rust was designed to address precisely these kinds of problems.

It was not that they did not trust C++ (itself) but it is easier to verify the rust implementation (because rust does a lot of the memory safety checks at compile time), and there is a long long long history of codecs having memory safety issues. One less potential future exploit is always a good thing (one should note that rust does not protect against logic errors, so the code may still be wrong, just potentially less wrong).
So... they didn't trust C++ for this job.

My point being that when you wrote "There's no GPS in my PC, idiots", the fact that there are no GPS does not mean your PC cannot locate you, and thus the popup could still be relevant.

Regarding location data, even on a laptop or a desktop, an imprecise location can be deducted from wifi triangulation. You still need wifi though which is present on all laptops and many desktops sold these days. Or can be added with a USB wifi adapter.

AI cannot extrapolate, per construction. They can interpolate better than anyone, but as soon as you leave its dataset, it has no clue anymore.
You can feed the best AI a trillion photos of cats, if none of them included a black cat, it will be fundamentally unable to tell you that a picture of a black cat contains a cat.
The illusion that it can extrapolate comes from the fact that these models are fed with humongous amounts of data, so even just interpolating is still mostly good enough as you won't go near the edge of the dataset.

In thew modern world of multi core everything, even on phones, it it a pretty big deal.

Real computer scientists don't program in assembler. They don't write in anything less portable than a number two pencil.
