Back then we had 2. for stable releases, 2. for unstable, and big features would lead to a new 2.x version.
maybe we can argue that due to maturity there aren't really big changes any longer though
genAI is new so the recession comparison is not relevant.
jobs are and will be replaced further by AI. no one knows how bad is it going to get though. amazon stock is nearly 20% down ytd and we are still in february
and here i am hating on my toyota dash because the hvac buttons are a mess, no free maps, android auto volume cannot be independently controlled from music. at least i have them, plus heated seat button and a volume physical switch/turn on/off radio, and can even move to next/prior station via wheel buttons.
i guess i could be doing a lot worse
not even yuka tells me this, which is the most complete app i have found
especially if they are counting google searches as gemini searches
prime video aggregates some content sure but offers little to no benefit otherwise
same as bundling saves you money, i would be able to aggregate multiple services into one and save money.
before netflix started out, all shows were available on cable, and you could bundle most channels and pay a flat fee which usually was in the low hundreds. now with all of the multiple streaming networks, adding all of them will cost you around the same money, especially after each one of them have raised their prices so much with the excuse that they are adding new content
imagine kodi or whatever, but legal. it shows you all available shows and movies, and interacts with whatever streaming network it is on. has lots of plans available, including a la carte and bundle the entire catalog of multiple streaming providers. all within a single app or website.
it is not convenient having to juggle within all multiple streaming apps / sites. i would pay for this convenience
this feels like a facebook newsfeed. old reddit cloned old digg. i can't stand new reddit, so i will continue to use old reddit while it still exists
who is going to connect to a plex server outside of the home, and over public internet?
install tailscale to bypass this, or switch to jellyfin (though i have to admit i prefer the plex player UI)
if they can generate most of their electricity by wind, why is their electricity so expensive? you would think with so many energy sources, competition would be fierce and they would get cheaper energy
you are the one thinking it wrong. not everyone needs to deploy their vm under an elastic load balancer that automatically replaces their instances on an autoscaling group if they go down, and on top of that, do immediate failover to a different DR region.
heck, not even AWS does that. there use cases for both. everyone that went down past monday didn't have all of what i mentioned above. why? it's not easy, quick and cheap to have all of that. there's room on the cloud for all use cases.
well, the source is out there, so if the community really cares, they can rewrite it to be a native client with distro based dependencies so a snap is not needed
sometimes a snap makes sense because then it can be reused on more distros
I do like HEB but their locations in DFW are far too few and all of their locations are chaotic. I would rather get a Joe V which they only have 2 around the area.
so in the meantime i go to a walmart neighborhood market which i have 2 just 2 miles away. i wouldn't go that far to pay $100 a year just to avoid me going to the store. i don't want people choosing produce, meat and fruit for me
virtualbox is good but irrelevant to this conversation as it's not used in the enterprise so vmware doesn't care about it.
