In China, involution (neijuan) describes a state of hyper-competition where individuals are compelled to work ever-increasing hours to maintain a competitive edge, yet this effort yields no real societal progress or increase in individual returns. Mr Eric Schmidt fails to adequately capture the true, diminishing returns on human labor in contemporary markets, and ultimately the destructive factor for an industry as a whole.

Your definition of "decent people" seems quite narrow, focusing on specific types of community involvement (volunteer work, church, neighborhood gatherings). The dating landscape is complex, and individual circumstances, preferences, and even luck play a part. Previous generations also had their own distractions and preferred modes of socializing.
