So anyhow, PPK [and some of the crap that goes with it] sucks big hairy moose balls when you're a sysadmin. The stress and the lifestyle was not healthy. Bilateral carpal tunnel release (R-5/27/03 and L-7/1/03 ) and then went back to work 8/11/03. We had to move the CSE dept to a new building 12/2003) and from that point forward, my job seemed to have triggered Something Very Bad. Case in point about the stress: @one point in January 04, I was told by a supervisor that I was "treating my job as if it were part-time." Why? Because I couldn't and wouldn't deovte/destroy my entire life to/for them anymore? who knows... Trade me bodies for a day sucker. then let's talk....
Sorry, but those words still sting to this day. Computers were my life for a looong time and I didn't want any of this. Believe me. Not being able to take a shower w/o pain destroys ones will over time. Running to the bathroom to run your hands under cold water for 5 mins ever 1/2 hour gets to be old. trust me... There's far darker things lurking upstairs when your entire world crumbles away before your grasp....
Over a year later (& now 6 months unemployed) I'm still very broken. I'm trying to get better, but I'm not making great leaps of progress like I'd hoped. I'm puttering around again with computers a little , but I have to be careful about everything I do... I'm certainly not the fearless Dory I was in years gone by...
It sorta sucks most of the time, come to really think of it... do a search for 'keratosis' for variations or google it.
*sigh* so sad. I love you all anyhow. (well, most of you at least. You know who you are =) Keep me entertained and amused!! =) I'm going to start over as an artist/teacher. Don't ask, because there's a chance I might actually explain >;-)
