Most likely you'd get a ticket for having damaged the license plates. There are rules in most if not all states that govern how a license plate is to be displayed. Things like making sure it isn't covered in mud, that there's a plate on the front and back of the vehicle and in many states that there isn't any covering on the license plate.

In Massachusetts you can be ticketed if your plate is too faded to be read by fast lane / red light cameras.

Get Out of Sprint Free 153

hyades1 writes in to let us know that Sprint has extended to Jan. 31 the time in which subscribers can switch carriers without paying an early termination fee. "Last month we learned that Sprint was increasing its administrative fee to $0.75, giving customers until January 1 of this year to back out without a penalty. It seems that $0.75 wasn't going to cut it as Sprint has raised its fee yet again, this time to $0.99. Customers now have through January 31 to sever ties sans-ETF, so if you missed the boat last month you're in luck. Though some customer care reps apparently aren't yet aware of the change, we did confirm it with Sprint so keep trying and as always, contacting them via chat seems to go a bit more smoothly than calling them up."

Poll Finds 23 Percent of Texans Think Obama is Muslim 562

A University of Texas poll has found that 23 percent of Texans are convinced that Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama is a Muslim. Only 45 percent of the people polled correctly identified Obama as a Protestant Christian. Nationwide, the number of people who believe in the "Secret Muslim Conspiracy" is about the same as those who believe that the moon landing was faked (5-10 percent), which makes the high numbers in Texas unusual.

If the cable companies get their wish the last thing we'll see is micropayments. I would love to only pay for what I watched of my cable tv channels, but thanks to their tiered billing system I'm paying for 8 home shopping networks. What we'll see is the same system for internet access, and then have to pay on top for "extras" that don't fit into their model of what internet access should be (ie usenet).
