Hadrosaur Proteins Sequenced 81

jd writes "In a follow-up study to the one on proteins found in a T. Rex bone, the team responsible for the T. Rex study sequenced proteins found in an 80-million year old Hadrosaur fossil. According to the article, the proteins found confirm the results of the T. Rex study, proving that what was found in T. Rex was not a result of modern contamination, as had been claimed by skeptics, but was indeed the genuine thing: real dinosaur protein. Furthermore, despite the new fossil being 12 million years older, they claim they got more out — eight collagen peptides and 149 amino acids from four different samples. This, they say, places the Hadrosaur in the same family as T. Rex and Ostriches, but that not enough was recovered to say just how close or distant the relationship was."

$100 Linux Wall-Wart Now Available 464

nerdyH sends us to LinuxDevices for a description of a tiny Linux device called the Marvell SheevaPlug. "A $100 Linux wall wart could do to servers what netbooks did to notebooks. With the Marvell SheevaPlug, you get a completely open (hardware and software) Linux server resembling a typical wall-wart power adapter, but running Linux on a 1.2GHz CPU, with 512MB of RAM, and 512MB of Flash. I/O includes USB 2.0, gigabit Ethernet, while expansion is provided via an SDIO slot. The power draw is a nightlight-like 5 Watts. Marvell says it plans to give Linux developers everything they need to deliver 'disruptive' services on the device." The article links four products built on the SheevaPlug, none of them shipping quite yet. The development kit is available from Marvell.

Yeah, watch it. Texas is G-d's gift to the Union. But, for the record, my Dad think that Obama is a Muslim and hates America. His proof are a picture of Obama not putting his hand over his heart at a saying of the Pledge of Allegiance and pictures/reports of Obama taking the American flags off his jet. Of course he also believed the Swift Boat Veterans about John Kerry.

Feed Engadget: More details revealed on Dell's Latitude XT tablet (engadget.com)

Strange how quiet Dell's been about that Latitude XT of theirs -- outside the buzzsaw experiment. Well fine, if Dell don't want to talk about it, we'll talk about it for 'em. In addition to that photo above, here's some more dirt on what the first Dell tablet will come equipped with:
  • Single or dual-core Intel ULV CPUs (with integrated graphics)
  • LED-backlit WXGA 1280 x 800 display option
  • Outdoor viewing WXGA 1280 x 800 display option
  • Ten and touch support (digitizer and touchscreen)
  • (3) USB 2.0 ports, Ethernet (duh), 1394, VGA out
  • WiFi options up to 802.11n, optional Bluetooth
  • Optional 3G (HSDPA, EV-DO Rev. A)
  • ExpressCard slot, optional Smart Card slot, fingerprint reader
Exact date of release has been hard for us to hammer down, but it looks like Dell's still on track for Q3. Obviously, we'll keep you posted.
