Yeah, the privacy aspect of EFF doesn't align with social media in general IMHO.

Are they trying to "earn" some $ from social media? That's a silly goal, but might be a nice side benefit.

It's worse than that, because with proper skill, it isn't even a copy/pasta. It is one app that posts to everything all at once. Even the social media places that didn't make the list.

  Buffer, Hootsuite, Metricool, Robopost or Later ... just off the top of my head.

One could probably tweak posts for each platform with AI effectively.

So, where did the audience go? It didn't go to the existing places from 20-8 years ago. And I doubt it went to the two new kids.

What this tells me is that their audience is aging/dying off, and the younger generations aren't there in numbers. This requires little to no political inferences to understand. It is easy to mistake one for the other.

Yes, I am a Boomer. I don't rely upon AI to tell me what to think. I am also a Libertarian and interested in Privacy and been a long time proponent of Open Source. Maybe figure out what intersections to the younger generations align and go there.

Niantic started life as an internal team at Google working on monetising location data. Being a revenue centre was the whole point from day one.

Only the "delivery robots" bit of this is actually news. Niantic being a datamining operation that tricked its users into scanning the real world for it is not. Hell Zuboff devoted a chunk of "The Age of Surveillance Capitalism" to it and that book came out in 2019.

Using AI is training AI to replace you. If you can be replaced with AI, you will be, and should be.

If you don't use AI, your peers will be, and you will be replaced by AI anyway.

Lying to yourself is the biggest danger for trying to stay Anonymous. With enough patterns to recognize, the idea that one can hide is a delusional take.

Just a wild ass guess though, but knowing efficiencies are always driven from the top, this is the primary likelihood.

1) the USA is bigger than all of EU geographically. Seattle to Miami is about the same distance as London to Tel Aviv Israel.
2) Population Density. The US has huge swaths that are less dense. Between LA and SF, is basically farmland with some cities here and there. The HSR is being built right in that corredor and this is the BEST we have so far ... no trains.
3) Unions. The whole project was largely created as a make work program for Unions at prevailing wage. Which feeds the (D) party coffers exclusively.
4) Democrats. Democrats run the state. They can't blame R for anything. But they do anyways.

We have "high speed rail". They are called Airplanes. For the cost of the HSR project, California could buy every man/woman/child at least 10 Round Trip flights between any two CA airports. This does not include the cost of the train tickets, which are largely expected to exceed plane tickets for the same trip.

Unfortunately, trains have some sort of emotional capture with a group of people who don't care about such things like costs, because they are covered by taxpayers.

I can almost guarantee that the cost of this will spiral out of control and take way longer to complete than they are telling you right now.

CA High Speed Rail, was supposed to be done by now, it doesn't have a single working section, and has already ballooned its expenses. But here we are, throwing good money after bad, instead of cutting it off.
